Lodge - new look!

We thought the living area could do with a couple of tweaks so we have replaced the old table and chairs as we felt the table was too large for the room. It means the table can now be located by the windows and visitors will have “dinning with a sea view”!
There was also a large unit which took up all the space in front of the window and a very small TV perched on it. So it’s out with the large unit and in with a larger TV. We think it gives the living area a much more open feel to it.

We are always happy to get constructive feedback from visitors, a fresh pair of eyes can make all the difference with suggestions that help us improve facilities for future guests.

Hot and cold weekend

Cold weekend, wintry showers ratted across the bay on Saturday morning with the tops beginning to whiten. “Curry and Quiz night” at the hall so we warmed up a bit then, followed by a nightcap at the Inn where we warmed up even more!

Sunday saw a dusting of snow and cracking morning for a walk through the village

Can't even see across to Skye this morning, very wet and breezy too, rain looks like it's settled for a day or two according to the forecast. Time to get back to doing some jobs in the house (so I've been told!)

Otter watch!!

Our first visitors to the The Lodge since we moved into Glenelg last month had a great short break over the weekend. Saw otters at the ferry slip, Sandaig and in front of The Lodge. They left very relaxed and happy!

Phew, it's hot up here!

Never thought we would be sitting in a relatively balmy Glenelg while the south of Britain froze. A sweltering 9° today and it’s been like that for a week or so though the sunshine gave way to duller days over the weekend (blue peeking through today). A sign it’s going to be a good summer? I’m saying nothing or I’ll get the blame later!!

12oz sirloin for me please!

Glenelg Inn starts meals tonight and continues for the rest of the season. Good news for anyone booking one of the cottages in Glenelg for a self catering holiday. Eat, drink and walk home after with no cooking to do or dishes to wash. Luvly jubbly!!

Norwegian wellboat

A large Norwegian wellboat just heading down the sound, wellboats have large seawater filled tanks to transport live salmon between sites or for processing so they arrive in peak condition. A few years ago I spent a couple of weeks on this boat (the Ronja Fisk). We did two trips transporting live Smolts to France, one trip to Cherbourg where there are fish cages within the harbour walls and the other to Roscoff where they went into a deep sea cage off the coast. We anchored of the France for the night on the way back, and then we had to watch the Eurovision song contest (in French!). The all Norwegian crew had a strange sort of pride thing going on due to Norway finishing bottom the last couple of years. They didn’t know whether to cheer or cry when Norway won, mainly due to the fact they all had bet money Norway would come last again!
Great crew, father, son and even mother on board. She cooked fabulous meals, kept the crew quarters better than a hotel and spent the rest of the time having rows with the family and telling everybody what to do! Good memories.

Where's the sun gone?

Don't want to be blamed for giving the impression every day is sunny in Glenelg!
I mean, it's Scotland, the Highlands, did you really think that?!!

Into February

Another month, another stunning sunset.
A decent sized trawler heading into the sunset, homeward bound for Mallaig.
Cold, cold nights at the moment but sunny days and they are getting longer all the time.
